The spectacular scenery of the Mourne Mountains reflects their status as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With varied, stunning panoramas in a compact space, it’s a perfect destination for visitors looking for thrills or relaxation. The Visit Mourne Mountains website and the My Mournes app were created to provide information to tourists, visitors, and businesses in the Mournes and surrounding areas about the huge variety of activities and places of interest around the landscape. Visit Mourne Mountains provides a stimulating online visual signpost, and a rich, more engaging user experience which showcases the region to its full potential.
The underlying brief for this project was to provide a self-sustaining platform providing information on the region relating to accommodation, restaurants, bars, attractions, things to do, and upcoming events. The main challenge in this project was the integration of Tourism NI’s Tourism Management database, which required substantial pre-planning, collaboration, and communication with NITB and other external sources.
Kentico supports this entire suite of digital solutions for many reasons. The website allows delivery of digital information in many formats (text, video, images, audio) and print-ready documents. Kentico also incorporated a full CMS at the heart of the solution, providing management of information online and via the apps.
Rotating promotional banners endorse key events, attractions and marketing messages, and quick-search capabilities easily find events and attractions. Newsletter sign-up allows visitors to remain informed via an integrated email marketing engine, and an in-focus section allows for top line promotions of specific campaigns. Google is also integrated for searching and interactive map facilities. Moreover, once photos are taken, users can upload images to a shared media library to be enjoyed by everyone. The suite also incorporates a branded YouTube channel allowing for the categorisation of informative videos of the Mourne Mountains and surrounding areas. The ‘My Mournes’ feature means users can store their own information of personalised favourite things to do and see, providing a totally bespoke experience.
The dedicated native mobile apps for the Android and iPhone platforms facilitate the pushing of specific targeted information to mobile devices. They also allow end users to take and submit images to the main website for inclusion in an online image gallery.
i3 Digital is extremely proud of this all-encompassing integration project, which included website and native app technologies. We have produced a website interface that is viewable and accessible from all key smartphones and tablet devices. The entire front end interface was built in HTML 5, which reshapes and repurposes content to fit on a range of screens and devices.
